I was thinking of proposing to some of the higher-ups at my university the idea of installing the BOINC client in our computer labs.
We have probably around 100-150 computers (PCs and Macs) in the labs across 3 campuses. The only potential problem I see is that they spend a lot of time without any users, so I wanted to ask before I even started going about this: Will the BOINC client run and continue to perform work while there is no one logged in to the computer? |

It will if installed correctly (as a service).
WCG have lots of ways to help with large deployments, so please ask if you need further information. |

Yes, install it as a service, and look at the other settings too! You dont want other people controlling Boinc, or they could mess it up.
When setup as a Service it also runs before anyone logs on; after a restart. Automatic updates sometimes restart the system, if you have them enabled or made the mistake of updating something else that re-enables updates! |
