Thank you ''uplinger'' for your come-back...now Synamtic manager wants the ''password''. Swore that I didn't apply one and tried all 12 of my passwords to no avail. is this lousey P III being hacked/taken over ? [I got only 1 google password on this CPU - L0L] ![]() Now, I will attempt a re-install of the O/S with a common 'root' psswrd, to save this futile endevoure. |

As 'Dingbat' Gilda Radner said .... ''Nevermind'' !Reloaded 9.04 and ran Admin process and I think it's gonna run now. [for US and our grandbabies] I'm glad you were able to get it installed and running. You should be able to see if a task is running in the control panel. Also, the password it was asking for was the one for your user ID. This would mean that if you log in to ubuntu with user ID: username password: Imbigsecret Then when it asks for a password on the operating system for system admin stuff, type in the password you use to log in. There is a technical reason for this, and I can explain later if needed, but it sounds as though you got things up and running. Just double check your tasks tab to see if you have processes going :) Thanks, -Uplinger |
