Using the search engine here is like going through a maze.
---------------------------------------- I mean, the many posts about this very subject. I fully understand what a nightmare it would be to see a professional IT Tech Writer come here and do a search on just about anything and see what his/her task would be like to make it much more usable. To make it a simple process. Yikes! They would want (and deserve) a whack of dineros. And lot's of coffee. Ton's of it. Since this is a non-profit organization, that simply won't happen. Anyway, can we have one forum showing us "White Papers" on all these projects? Without us trying to hunt for them? I know that some/many of you understand the Academic term "A Call For White Papers". Yes, one place/forum to see "White Papers" on all these projects. We are all here to crunch and I would think that every cruncher would want to see these "White Papers", without being Sherlock Holmes. LOL! This would be one of the best motivators ever. To 'see' what we are doing/close to "be doing" (yes, I know what Research is all about. It does take a whack of time) and what the Research Scientists think and report (or something close to that without revealing any secrets that will make them a load of money (just kidding there! LOL!.) Right here. At the WCG! I would much rather see those than look at the Daily Stats concerning "Total Run Time", "Points Generated", Results Returned, et all. That would be awesome. That would be rather inspiring to "see" what we may be close to/have accomplished. That info in itself would make it so easy to bring in new crunchers to the WCG. Science rules! Oh yes, the second one, which I have barely mentioned ( ), is the conversion of those old UD Points into Boinc stats. There are still many Teams here who still use that antiquated/archaic point system here. And some who use a mixture of both (Official WCG Team Stats here) and Boinc Stats for individuals. It's like a bad combination of a Nascar/Formula One race report if you think about it. Scores from "Football", meaning USA/Canadian Football and Soccer (what most of the World calls 'Football" wrongly). Manchester United defeated Everton FC by a score of 57-0. Or The Denver Broncos defeating the New York Giants by a score of 1-0. Geez, what a mess that would be. At least the sports of Baseball and Basketball are International as well, but have common terms and such. Now cricket? Who really knows? Peace to you all (I now feel like a character from a Sci-Fi movie/TV series just by stating that)! I'll just say 'sup, everyone?' instead. ROFL! Oh yes, I saw a thread in the "Chat Room" about 'What are you listening To? (and other threads that are simply too funny/weird/insane to even post in (For All You Greenies (or something like that). Here is what I'm listening to: ![]() Now the sound of that scene totally rocks. Later, 'taters. ![]() |

Anyway, can we have one forum showing us "White Papers" on all these projects? Without us trying to hunt for them? I know that some/many of you understand the Academic term "A Call For White Papers". It's not forum-driven, but this is a pretty good jumping off point. Plus, the newsletter archives link to the research update page. In addition, the omnipresent Sekerob has a post cataloging the scientists' activity in the forum.Yes, one place/forum to see "White Papers" on all these projects. ....can we have one forum showing us "White Papers" on all these projects? ...... Oh yes, the second one, ...... is the conversion of those old UD Points into Boinc stats. We are tired of digging for the real results as well so we have someone putting it all together. We plan on showing it on the website. The goal is to have that available for viewing before the end of 2009. As to the points... that is on the list. We'll talk about it on our team soon and decide what to do and when to do it. Thanks for asking. |

Thanks for asking. Both of those would be great. Good to have a central repository for results. Also, I hope to see the UD point conversion to BOINC credits before the old UD'ers start to die off. Look forward the the new fourm software too. Thanks! ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Aug 29, 2009 3:52:04 AM] |
