Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

Yes. It looks like the user update got hosed this time which threw off the team stats as they don't include the missing user data from the second half of the day. Presumably we have some server times messed up again though that's not so evident this time around. What ever it is, this is really starting to get old. I mean, whoever is working on the server should be able to easily confirm they haven't messed up the server time yet again. angry angry angry

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

Ha - you think we treat you guys like mushrooms? Think about how the silly servers treat us........

I'm on vacation - have been since Wednesday. I'm the first to notice this issue on the tech team so I am fixing (we all peak in at various times - even while on vacation). The automated alert for issues with the stats run won't go out for another 30-40 minutes.

This issue is different then the one mid last week. This time somehow a seriously large negative credit was awarded to a user. It overflowed some of the arithmetic during the ETL process and screwed up the run. I'm clearing out a few things and then will re-run the stats. That should resolve the issue.

We actually fear anyone taking vacation - trouble always occurs when someone takes a bit of time off...... I'm not particular fond of Mr Murphy.

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

Well, something definitely "weird" is going on - as, as far as I can see, all yesterdays' totals ARE included in the Users statistics (i.e., the fact that I'd gotten a Gold badge via the midday stats on Sunday is still there, plus some added time onto the HCC totals). Then, when the Status update had finished, the time was saying 24/08/09 00:06:03 (with an update of +1 UTC hr - i.e., my timezone), then, when I went back, it was stating the date as the 23rd, with +25 UTC time... As I say though, the stats (as far as I can see), do look correct....

Edit, Thanks for taking an occasional "peak" at things (and taking the necessary actions to resolve this issue). Yes, unfortunately Mr. Murphy has an old habit of knowing when we go on holiday....

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

Once again, thank you Kevin!

Personally, I prefer to hate the law of averages. You go long enough without any trouble and you really start to worry about your six. Perhaps you should post a warning when you leave on vacation just so everyone can "brace for impact". You gotta love IBM's idea of vacation too. I've known folks to go on a supposedly nice vacation in Hawaii and spend half of it online from their hotel room. It's not fair you guys can't even enjoy some time off. I guess the fact that it's not a bum time on a server this time around should be good news.

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

Looks MUCH better now Kevin! Thanks again for fixing this. Part of me wonders how someone could get negative credit, especially big enough to cause an overflow. The other part of me just wants to assume the nuclear position. Think I'll go with the latter and hope for the law of averages turning again for you guys. wink

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

While the details appear to be correct once you drill down into them, the coverpage for team points is goofy:

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

Did anyone notice that the WCG has not refreshed this evening's update? Anyone? wink

Or the fact that the WCG has yet to even convert those old UD Points to Boinc credit yet? Yikes! devilish

Gotta wonder ... thinking

Makes we wonder ...

Stairway to heaven Lyrics
Led Zeppelin

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's buying a stairway to heaven
When she gets there she knows, if the stores are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for
Ooh, ooh, and she's buying a stairway to heaven

There's a sign on the wall but she wants to be sure
'Cause you know sometimes words have two meanings
In a tree by the brook, there's a songbird who sings
Sometimes all of our thoughts are misleading
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, it makes me wonder

There's a feeling I get when I look to the west
And my spirit is crying for leaving
In my thoughts I have seen rings of smoke through the trees
And the voices of those who stand looking
and it makes me wonder
really makes me wonder

And it's whispered that soon if we all call the tune
Then the piper will lead us to reason
And a new day will dawn for those who stand long
And the forest will echo with laughter

GUITAR SOLO

If there's a bustle in your hedgerow, don't be alarmed now,
It's just a spring clean from the May Queen
Yes, there are two paths you can go by, but in the long run
There's still time to change the road you're on
Ooh, it makes me wonder
Ooh, Ooh, it makes me wonder

Your head is humming and it won't go, in case you don't know
The piper's calling you to join him
Dear lady, can't you hear the wind blow, and did you know
Your stairway lies on the whispering wind

GUITAR SOLO

And as we wind on down the road
Our shadows taller than our soul
There walks a lady we all know
Who shines white light and wants to show
How everything still turns to gold
And if you listen very hard
The tune will come to you at last
When all is one and one is all, yeah
To be a rock and not to roll.

And she's buying the stairway to heaven

Let's crunch on! biggrin

laughing biggrin I have to admire your persistence JC. applause applause

It's like an insurance company. If you wait long enough to pay the claimants, most of them will die and you don't have to pay off at all. biggrin
It will never happen.

Re: Did anyone notice? Team Stats Update

The reason that this change hasn't been done is because unfortunately, we don't get to simply divide by 7 and be done. Many of credit database columns are integers at the user/team/country/global. Actually, only at the device level are the credits real numbers instead of integers. This is due to the old UD system. In order to be accurate, we need to convert all of these integers into real numbers. This means exporting out the database tables, modify the columns, and reloading. It also means changing the website code to handle them as real numbers rather than integers. Although this is all well defined and doable, it will take a couple of weeks to do and we haven't been able to get to it as of yet.
