I discovered this morning that I was missing 2.000 points and the result status showed no returns between July 26 and August 9 while I return results daily.
Has something gone wrong? |

Though mostly completed results stay up to 4 days after validation in the Result Status page list, sometimes the techs remove them early to make space and speed up the database and looking at my own i don't see any validated tasks that were returned before August 8, and latter are all the BETA tasks that did not get validated until yesterday.
----------------------------------------A quick check at your BOINC statistics clearly indicate continued contribution confirming you had no recent longer interruption. http://nl.boincstats.com/stats/user_graph.php?pr=wcg&id=418755 The data there suffers from time-laps, should though give good indication, after multiplying BOINC credits by 7 to get the old WCG measure of points. Thus think the "missing 2,000 points" could be tasks in pending validation!

Thanks, I will keep close track on the results. In the mean time I have found that the the old tasks still in my results list belong to a series of calculations that have not yet been completed, probably due to the holiday period. People should stop requesting new tasks when their holiday is coming. |

People should stop requesting new tasks when their holiday is coming. Do you really think this statement is worth making as is? If you are going to be gone for more than 9 days and turn off your system, then this would be a great idea. I bet there will be plenty cruncher who do that won't even see this advice. On the other hand, someone else will get the emergency job after ten days. Just like other PCs that do not return results for whatever reason. If you are going to be gone for one week or less, turn off your PC and your PC can catch up in time for deadline, then deadlines won't be missed. Yes some have complained (or more accurately made statements) about validation that has to wait because someone didn't return the result anywhere nearly as fast as you did. And doing that doesn't solve anything. If you are going to leave PC running while you are gone, when why would you suggest not allowing your system to crunch and yet be turned on during your vacation? And if you are like me, you take your laptop with you and can run it at your holiday destination (in case my family), then nothing wrong with running WCG task while you are gone at your holiday destination spot, is there? |
