So for me to be able to get into anything at WCG we require SSL enabled, yet as this reads here, when someone attaches a device to an account manager s/he is in effect passing the authenticator key to the AMS who are happily permitted to quiz and update the device profiles? I did find that the BAM password and WCG password have to be the same to let it work, but GR's password seemingly not. I'm quite puzzled anyhow, for having attached 1 device to GR a week or so ago, what did happen is that 2 devices showed there that were decommissioned quite some time ago but not the devices for which I since beginning of 2008 have been using the <suppress_net_info>1</suppress_net_info> in the cc_config.xml. This includes the no-show of the GR attached device. Feeling insecure right now what in the way of requirements are put forward towards the AMS's to gain query and update access? The mere opening of an account there? Their terms: GridRepublic is committed to respecting your privacy. If you go to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProfile.do you will see a field called verification code. This is your weak account key. Ah, no wonder didn't see it anywhere, since didn't expect it was called something completely different. Suggestion, can you please change it to "Weak account key" instead of "verification code", to not confuse users looking for this. Would also recommend to include the link describing how to use weak account key alongside it. (/boinc/html/user/weak_auth.php) ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

The verification code was created before the BOINC weak account key AFAIR for the purpose described in Help. They were originally not exchangeable, but now it seems they are.

Assuming Help will change, the 'old' functionality description as a successor to the one in place for the old UD agent:
----------------------------------------Search Results for: Verification Code What is the Verification Code and what is it used for? The Verification Code is a private, personal code that you can use to verify your team membership and team stats. There are teams that provide incentives and/or rewards to members for being a part of their team. World Community Grid is providing the Verification Code as a way for these teams to verify their members' statistics and team membership without requiring members to give the team their password. Note that your Verification Code will change if you change your member name and/or password. If your team is relying on your verification code to verify your membership and statistics, be sure they have your current Verification Code. To verify the team membership and statistics for a member, use the URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/verifyMembe...amp;code=VERIFICATIONCODE You will get a response in XML containing the membership information for that member. If there is an error, it will be reported back in the XML response. This is what knreed was covering elsewhere recently when he was discussing making the detail member level project stats available through xml for De Bok's Free-DC, the members having to provide the code to him.
