this thread cracks me up ... great beginning and quickly seemed to go downhill ...
... we already discriminate enough between those who contribute a little and those who contribute a lot. Other than time badges (which really don't say much) and the only other thing I can think of is that only the top 5000 crunchers by points are found on WCG. How is this discrimination? Perhaps you are of the mind that anyone not recognized is being discriminated against? If we go down the path that says we can not recognize anyone or anything for accomplishing more than others without assuming that we are discriminating against everyone else then we all might as well stop posting now <sigh> ... based on how long a member has been a member ... another form of discrimination aarvark principle ... hey ... you discriminating against ants!!!, how about the three toed sloths??? grrr ... don't make me angry Because the titles are meaningless I say drop them entirely or perhaps when the software gets upgraded it will be to one of the fancy systems that let you grade posts. This would clearly sepearate the crunching from the posting which are in fact two very different things. As a side benefit we could then have arguments about post grade rigging. I think making subproject stats and hosting signature blocks with said details would allow people to advertise their epeen as much as they need to. There really should be a limit to the number of emoticons in a single post ![]() |

Cool, I want to be an "Ace Cruncher".
That may take a while though. |

Because the titles are meaningless I say drop them entirely or perhaps when the software gets upgraded it will be to one of the fancy systems that let you grade posts. Since they have a definition, they are not meaningless. They are a LABEL. The idea that people are asking WCG to divert the Techs from the work they are doing on Alpha and Beta testing, new projects, project management and hardware support and INSTEAD change a label. WOW ![]() |

You can safely ignore these misleading forum grades which are simply confusing for new forum users. I would much like that "cruncher" be replaced by something more appropriate, or even that this feature of the forum software be simply de-activated. Since the number of posts is clearly shown there is no need for these grades. Only the Techs, Community Advisors and Scientists and other specials roles should still be visible, I guess. These post-ranking might make some people post 'useless' messages to raise their ranking :-) ... is this a useless message from me? ![]() Post # 235 for me. ![]() |
