All jobs with error are from E000887 distribution, and in this batch I got 2 WU's finished as valid. I will monitoring the companions and replicas to verify if will became errors too.

Just a little update for information.
Since my last lost in this thread, I have rolled back to 6.2.28 but that didn't solve the problem. Have checked hardware (memtest etc) and can find no problem there. Both error machines now dedicated to Rice and running sweetly. Cheers Toss |

We are looking into the issue.
GIBA, is your machine the only one in the quorum that had issues with these work units? I'm trying to find a work unit that had multiple computers fail with this error as it'll make figuring out the issue easier. -Uplinger |

on a PC that has never produced an error before:

There is nothing I can find in the logs that leads to a reason for this generic The system cannot write to the specified device. (0x1d) - exit code 29 (0x1d) on all instances. |

Hmmm,
have one WU (E000859_989C_009j01912_0) which exits with code 29. The system was halted when this WU reached 99.714% and I made a backup copy. Every time it restarts it runs (percentage increases from 90.16%) and then aborts with this error. All result files are available with status 1, boinc says 'Computation for ... finished' without any further message, but state shows 'Calculation error' and exit code 29 shows up in the <result> section of client_state.xml. I tested it with three different computers and it always terminates with exit code 29. Boinc version is 5.10.45. Anyone interested in further investigations? Otherwise I let the task upload and report tomorrow. 23 hours lost... :-( Matthias |

Just to let everyone know we are currently looking into the checkpointing for these work units as it appears that it is causing the bulk of the error 29's from what we can tell. We will let you know more as we debug this issue.

I have 2 machines spitting out the "exit code 29 (0x1d) error". One is a Q6600, the other is an i7. Not every WU though, some complete successfully. Both machines are overclocked so I have a feeling they need a touch more core voltage for this project. The reason I think this is because I have several other machines sitting in the same room, with the same hardware, OS and BOINC version that are not having any trouble at all with CEP. I'll report back with my findings.
