Yes, going to the next badge level is certainly a huge jump (especially for people like us, who don't have huge resources at our disposal), and a decision not to be taken lightly if you're like me - someone who doesn't like being 'stranded between badge levels'.

As to the amount of HCC work left, who knows (I certainly don't), as it's one of those projects that has certainly had at least one extension added to it, probably two or three others - I can't just remember back that far. So, this may happen again, thus providing the possibility of stretching for that Emerald badge

However, I have been neglecting the other projects because I wanted to reach this level on HCC before the imminent end, since it's one of the projects I value most. Now I have reverted to crunching all available sciences (with HCC on GPU only from now on) as they are all worthy, but with a particular focus on CEP2 because my next dream is to reach sapphire there which, as you can tell, is quite far away.

But who knows? Maybe scientists will release the HCC2 at some point and I will definitely aim for sapphire there too.
