Re: CUDA for Clean Energy

so far all of the grapics card processing out there wont work with any of the cards i have in any of my computers so im hopeing when they come out with one i will be able to use it.

that is the main problem with grapics card processing... how many compltely difrent cards are out there??

for myself i am useing older computers still and i am not going to spend even 100$ on one of them to upgrade a grapics card.. i would myself save that money for a new-er computer... or most likely blow it on something shiney me or my wife see's at a store.

every project out there on BOINC useing CUDA is beta at best and all of them seem to be haveing the problems you would expect from new aplications...

yes i hope WCG gets CUDA and i hope they wait untill its actualy usefull and not something that will turn people off running BOINC or WCG

We're still working on it although it's not super high-priority for us. We were close to having a plan in place for going only with nVidia but now we are also looking at OpenCL. The only project that is feasible to run CUDA/GPU is Help Conquer Cancer.

applause Re: CUDA for Clean Energy

yes, for help conquer cancer, it's still at an early stage

It is more at a pre-early stage or even a little before! laughing

The HCC team said that they would be interested in developing a GPU version when WCG can host one.

And WCG has said that they want to start the feasibility/approval steps in the second half of 2009, i.e. in the coming months now.

Bottom line: it is not going to be offered before several months, I think.
Jean.

Jean, I'd not read your message before. It's a very good news for the future heavy projects.

Alain.
