I'd say, at this stage of completion, no.

I have not heard anything, which I consider a bad sign for programming progress.

Well wasn't CUDA in development phase for one of the projects at least?

yes, for help conquer cancer, it's still at an early stage It is more at a pre-early stage or even a little before! The HCC team said that they would be interested in developing a GPU version when WCG can host one. And WCG has said that they want to start the feasibility/approval steps in the second half of 2009, i.e. in the coming months now. Bottom line: it is not going to be offered before several months, I think. Jean. |

Hmm, it's good to hear that GPU potential will be harnessed on WCG.
Sure it will be a slow (and probably frustrating) process but there are certainly perks when it comes to processing power terms. Especially considering how with the new GTX 300 series they're planning to have MIMD instead of SIMD. |

CUDA is generally at an early stage!
There are many issues with it. Many ongoing developments in both CUDA itself as well as the graphics cards will improve the usability of CUDA devices for programming, and in the years ahead it is inevitable that graphics cards will come more to the fore of programming. So it is inevitable that the WCG will start to facilitate CUDA crunching, but it is worth waiting and doing it correctly - there are a lot of Beta CUDA projects out there, and they are a real pain to participate on - some are a total put-off. Although I look forward to the announcement that the WCG is ready for CUDA, I hope the announcement comes when the WCG is ready, and not 6 months before! |
