More Wu downloaded than expected

This morning my server had 8 wu's aboard. 1 running and 7 in wait.
I expected the running one and maybe 1 waiting but not the rest.

Could this be a hickup from maintenance?

edit: There is no problem with deadlines, all wu's should complete before their due date. The reliability might drop though (quite a few won't return in 21 hours...)

Re: More Wu downloaded than expected

First, would not worry about this 'reliability' rating. Even when I run a buffer of 2 days continuously do my clients get rush jobs, if that's the objective. This 'reliability' has no meaning whatsoever for getting Beta work, other than till you've worked through the queue, will the client not request work of any kind. Why would you want to beta only on reliable clients? WCG when testing wants to have results coming off any type of PC. The faster return is anyway forced off with a shorter deadline.

Now, if your settings were to have a short queue, you don't give us anything to get a full picture such as which project these are for, and suddenly you have 8, it could be your machine had a brief period of quicker returns. The server could have been confused too and thought you suddenly had a quad server... there were serious issues after the patching, so I would not worry too much about it.

Re: More Wu downloaded than expected

Nearly all the WU's are for Rice except for 1 dddt. There were no changes to my que and connection rate is every .01 days. No extra work buffer.)

Downloads were at 5.26 AM UTC (7.26 local)
Machine is an AMD Sempron 2800+ running XP (sp3). No CUDA, no Coprocessors, not using a proxy)
Boinc 6.6.28 for windows_intelx86

Thanks for telling me that this is nothing to worry about.
I needed to give a sign though about this anomaly.... ;-)

Re: More Wu downloaded than expected

No extra work buffer it showing as 0.00 in the local prefs screen? Default is like 0.2 or 0.3 days.

What projected completion time for these rice? Should be ~7 hours. I've had jobs showing 4x but also 0.25x the true time when the mean times were in great state of flux.

Re: More Wu downloaded than expected

The server is hooked to the internet 24x7. The box extra work buffer is empty. max. download value is 0,00 KB/sec. No restrictions on network use.

projected times are 8:28:38 for rice and 61:48:47 for dddt
Realistic crunching times are ca. 7 1/2 hours for rice and 13 to 14 hours for dddt.

So dddt is off by quite a bit (the 4x seems close enough...)

The server is crunching through the que. No new jobs have been asked for nor given out.

Re: More Wu downloaded than expected

Empty? At least it should show 0.00. Presume you set the website device profile 'cache' value to 0.00 too.

Looks though as if your rDCF or active_frac values have been hit by a windmill. 61 hours will definitely freeze work fetch. You could suspend all none-started rice jobs, then suspend the currently active task to push the DDDT ahead. That will speed up the correction of control values, short of a project reset ;>)

still, nothing to worry... it will sort itself out by no later the end of the last task.

Already done. dddt is next in line as of now. Rice will follow.

Thanks a lot and have a nice day! :-)
