I'm talking mainly about HCC:
I experimented with linux and found that the HCC WUs are a lot smaller or process faster in this environment compared to windows. Is the work really smaller for this platform or is the application more efficient? I'm running linux x64 (opensuse). |

Yes, HCC on 64 bit Linux and Windows process faster... about 25%, maybe more. It's due to the very high Integer portion of computing which has no 32 bit double precisions floating point restriction.
----------------------------------------Possibly HCMD2 also benefits. There's an unconfirmed report by Jean.

No, AFAIK no work is being cut different sizes and HCC can't be cut differently anyhow. Some projects will just go (substantially) faster on 64 bit OSses.
