I get a long list of WU's up or downloading and it seems I I always get one that fails like this one:

These are usually transient, self healing. No one is reporting large scale intermittancy, so suggest booting routers and computers to refresh IPs and links in LAN and connection to ISP. An FAQ was created to do some diagnosing and fixing: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=21569

Aborting the WU's usually resulted in a new one downloading fine. I have since deslected the project and have not received the problem again. At the time there were a few issues with SSL connectivity so I just put the problem down to it. |

Hello,
I had the same problem. Aborting the task didn't stop the dowloading, and it wasn't possible to cancel the downloading, and no other task was required to server. After one day hoping it will come back, I have reset the project and everything seems to work again. I immediatly got about 50 task and all the download are OK. |

To abort all parts of a download, best do this in the Tasks window of BOINC manager. Yes some of these failing downloads can be persistent, but certainly last I had to do this for multipart FLU jobs, the task gracefully disappeared.

I am not sure and I have not heard anyone talk about it but I rebooted the PC and it had about 4 updates for Vista to install. After installing and booting up that file downloaded.
----------------------------------------So I am wondering if updates for Vista had anything to do with it. Windows don't always tell you when there is a update to be installed until you go to shut it down. Since my PC run 24/7 (most of the time for BOINC) I only shut down for storms. ![]() |

Booting is always a good way to refresh all parts of the system loaded in memory and making sure all parts of updates have applied. It cannot be enough emphasized to do that when problems develop out of nowhere.

This is true but some of my PC do get rebooted more than others like the one I take to work with me.
----------------------------------------I just never thought about a uninstalled update keeping me from downloading a file like a BOINC Project file. ![]() |

Hi everybody,
----------------------------------------your problem looks ve similar to the one I reported some days ago in the following thread: www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=25716. I can confirm that you should not abort any WUs; a system reboot should normally help boinc to work again correctly. Cheers, Yves |

It seems I just had the same problem. Unable to download a wu. Restarting my pc didn't help. Aborted the download, and units are beginning to download again.
