I ran the 32 bit version on this comptuer with no problem. I also run it on 4 other linux machines(32bit) with no problem. All attached to WCG. If WCG requies everyone to use thier version of boinc then I will detach. Part of the fun for me is building boinc.

Definitely not a requirement and had no intend at all to convey such message if that was perceived.

Paul, you aren't required to use a specific version. However, if you use a version that isn't officially supported, you are on your own when things go wrong. This goes double for alpha releases of the software: we have enough problems with bugs in release versions. We consider alpha versions of BOINC to be almost unusable, and strongly advise members not to use such software unless they are actually helping Berkeley to alpha test the software. And since 6.7 isn't an active alpha test version, there is no good reason for you to use it at all.
If you want a trouble-free life, stick to the tested releases. localhost --- 6/3/2009 9:36:33 PM This a development version of BOINC and may not function properly This warning isn't so much a warning as a guarantee. localhost --- 6/3/2009 9:36:33 PM log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops, http_debug localhost --- 6/3/2009 9:36:33 PM Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 GnuTLS/2.6.4 zlib/1.2.3 c-ares/1.6.0 libidn/1.13 libssh2/1.0 As expected, these libraries do not include OpenSSL. This explains why you can't connect. localhost --- 6/3/2009 9:36:33 PM Data directory: /home/psands/BOINC This indicates BOINC is not configured with user-level security. We advise members to limit their computer's exposure by installing using a package that configures users and services as required. localhost SETI@home 6/3/2009 9:36:33 PM Found app_info.xml; using anonymous platform Even if you managed to connect, World Community Grid does not support anonymous platforms. Why do you have this problem with World Community Grid and no other project? World Community Grid requiresa secure connection to the server - for your own security. Other projects do not. World Community Grid won't compromise on security for the sake of convenience. |

The app_info is only for Seti@home and does not effect any other project. I use it on all my hosts and get work form WCG without any trouble at all.
I have set all my hosts to no new work and will detach when the work I have is finished. Thanks for your help. |

But, there won't be a Linux-version, so... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |
