10000 years and 60% completed .How long to process the last 40%?

Only 40% of processing to go now that we have reached 10,000 years of processing on the WGC. Guesses for how long to complete the project - 3 months?, 4? less?

This project will be finished, according to announcement of WCG. So, what will we do after that? confused To get another project?

Join MOT today and get ....... ?

You are right dtype. I have a worry myself that if the WCG don't announce another project soon, there may be a loss of interest as this project draws to a conclusion. So far they are keeping quiet, for understandable reasons. (I tried to push this a little harder in one of the other forums but didn't get a solid response.)

But its only 4 months. In the academic world (where time works differently from the rest of us) that's not long!

Great work Team,

Just over 1/2 million to make up to take that 4th place. Looks like everyone was hit yesterday by not so much monster as slightly longer to run Work Units. Friday's a certainty though.

Latest update on the close battle for second place - jasnyder made 1732 points over Ploetner yesterday but it's still neck and neck - tomorrow will be fun.

All things being equal 3 more days should take us to 4th on the points total so roll on Friday 27th May (You heard it first here wink)

Come and join the best supported team on the Grid and see if we can make it Thursday biggrin
Everybody welcome.

Before I set off to work I must at least mention the 10,000 years of processing milestone that was achieved yesterday. In the good old days we used to be able to predict when they were going to happen as the updates used to happen each day at the same time and you could prepare for them. Now they just sneak up some time during the day and so the "WhooHoo Factor" is not so great.

I have tried and tried to get IBM to make some publicity out of the Millennium Milestones to recruit more members but I ran out of steam when we got to 5K in 100 days exactly and even their Press Office couldn't see what a great strapline/tagline that was. You can see that we are crunching faster as 5-10 took just 87 days. 10,000 years in 187 days is just not as funky as 5,000 years in 100 days - you can see my point.

It is amazing though to think that since this project started on the 16th November 2004 just over 6 months ago, an average of 53 years 173 days crunching is completed every day which is the equivalent of 19518 PC's (Roughly an Athlon 2700+) on for every hour of the day. That's a lot of PC's on for a lot of time. It is a shame that more corporates have not yet seen the value of contributing to this good cause.

I'll get off my soapbox now.

All the best
Dave

Stats Freaks -- Neat Toy Built By WCG Member Börni

I know we have some Stats Freaks on the team and thought it would be worth posting a note here about a Stats-Image Generator announced by WCG member Börni in a post in Member-To-Member Support at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2867. You can see the results in my sig line below and in the Top Five teams as follows:

Kind of neat, don't you think?

Re: Stats Freaks -- Neat Toy Built By WCG Member Börni

I like the stats image generator!! :)
Added yet another p4 3.0e yesterday, did a quick overclock on it to 3.3Ghz of course :) (gonna try a bit more when I get home later on tonight, only being able to overclock by 5% increments kinda sux, but its what the mobo gives me....)Its at home cunching as we speak... It will stay there till the last part for the system comes in the mail(hehe keyboard and mouse) then I'll be giving it to the customer. Luckily the customer is a friend of a friend and has no problems letting the agent run on it :)

woohoo, more points for the team!!!

GO TEAM!!
