BETA_ CMD2_ 0003-H2AYA crashing

I changed profiles to avoid HCMD2, because those all crash for P3/Athlon machines under linux. Of course, the first thing I got this afternoon on such a machine was a BETA_CMD2_0003-H2AYA.clustersOccur-ITB5A.clustersOccur_ NN_N ... which crashed immediately with an illegal instruction error.

By the way, it would be really nice if someone would shorten these long names. BETA_CMD2_0003-H2AYA-ITB5A_ NN_N would say exactly the same thing as the version with ".clustersOccur" sprinkled through it and be much neater.

Perfect! Since the purpose of this test was not to fix this problem but to test duration normalization improvements it would have been a worry if your problem had disappeared. smile

Regarding the structure of the WU names I agree that these literals are a bit long, but in my long task lists they make a clear separation between the variable elements.
Let's leave the scientists and the techs some freedom for organizing their work the way they fnd convenient for them.

Cheers. Jean.

A "bit" long? They're so long that the Workunit Status popup for beta versions grows horizontal scroll bars because the table can't fit in the space available.

Anyhow, yes, I didn't think a beta so soon would be testing the compile error. (Doesn't even need a beta. Compiling a program so that it doesn't produce illegal instructions on a P3 can be tested definitively with a single instance.) I just liked it as an example of Murphy's Law.

Re: BETA_ CMD2_ 0003-H2AYA crashing

i havent had a problem with the beta's crashing yet

and how the project identifies the work units requires the job names to be long

yes they probaly could change the BETA_ to B_ or such but that would cause issues but thhey posibly could be able to reduce the projects names but i do not think this is a real issue of the name.
