Re: The Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Crunching Chart

I also see increases in DCF * with a quad core running only HCMD2, up to 3.0 or so. It's a penalty of running a single project for which runtime is difficult to estimate in advance.

* Duration Correction Factor, in Properties on the Projects tab, in case anyone is wondering.

Re: The Help Cure Muscular Dystrophy Crunching Chart

As a learning point, maybe on a next similar project that uses this offspring construct, the parents and children and grandchildren could be given an A / B / C type of label with each their own flop estimates similar to what's done with the Px and Sx for DDDT2 C-Type. Not 100% sure, but client 7.0 or 7.2 could have "per science" type of DCF [looks to get deprecated]... a SDCF so to speak. Read http://boinc.berkeley.edu/trac/wiki/RuntimeEstimation, but to me it still does not answers how to treat hi variability within a single science... the non-deterministic part. It's long overdue to have something done about it, the way clients handle DCF for multiscience grids. WCG has been here 7 years now and Trac tickets at Berkeley have existed for years to fix this problem, reason why I keep cache in the 1.0 - 1.25 range, so it wont fly out of the "reliable" zone.

Meantime, we just crunch on.

Re: News from the Crunching Field

Haha! I loved it when the parents were away for the weekend! smile

I've had a run of child units which have completed between 15 minutes and 4 hours. I think we're doing a good job clearing out all of these units and we'll be pushing that leading edge beyond 2200 soon!

Re: News from the Crunching Field

Only 1 parent downloaded overnight, that was 2194, same as reported on 15 Dec by JmBoullier. The rest were children within 2142 thru 2192.
