I have had this problem for some time now. World Community Grid - BOINC Manager is not able to connect to a World Community Grid client. Win this happens I also see the svchost in task manager is at 99% CPU. I can live with the BOINC manager not able to connect but not with the svchost using all of my CPU time.

Do you have your system up to date with all MS patches and Service Packs?
There are many reasons for svchost to use 100% of the CPU, try google something like "svchost high cpu usage" and you'll find a lot of information. |

I have Windows XP with all security patches. Antivirus and anti spyware is update. Is there anything in BOINC that would cause the svchost to go to 99%? Why does BOINC some times have problems connecting to the client? Thank you for your help. |

Do you have by any chance a rather large "hosts" file? (usually located on C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc). I had a problem with svchost once because of this.
Other than that, I suggest the google search I told you about and follow some of the instructions on how to identify and fix svchost problems. |
