I use Microsoft Security Essentials on. So far so good.
A few people I work with had their computers hijacked by Internet Security 2010. It is nothing but trouble. If what I heard is true, then removing it is almost impossible without completely screwing up your system. |

Bing had the exact same top hit on same query :0) Does that mean that Hypernova (and every reasonable person) should add that to things to look for before choosing a security software:- articles - benchmarks - users' opinions and - how many times people looked for the way to remove it? ![]() |

Funny is in Spybot there's a warning when configuring the removing addware part: "Your freeware application may stop functioning if you remove the sponsor adds"

Actually http://www.malwarebytes.org will get rid of it and you will be back up and running in under an hour. Then you need to run a couple of anti-spyware programs and your favorite anti-virus program. But malwarebytes really is a good program, and I am talking the free version here not the pay one!! ![]() ![]() |

AV-Test.org has released a report considering AV program's malware detection and blocking abilities. Results in a nutshell: Symantec the best one to detect malware and PC Tools the best to block them.

The very best
----------------------------------------http://www.free-av.de/en/products/index.html Been using this since the WCG began no worries First thing I load on to a new PC closely followed by BOINC Free version updates daily. Paid for version every couple of hours + firewall and email scanning (I use Gmail to collect my POP3 and scan for virus and spam - so back to the free version for me) Antivir has a light footprint on your PC. Kapersky and Norton are worse than having a virus IMHO Dave ![]() |

Another Anti-Virus to try is "ESET NOD 32". "ESET" has both versions to pick from. A 32 bit Anti-Virus version and a 64 bit Anti-Virus version.
"ESET Nod 32" does NOT slow down my 2 computers that I have it on at all as "other" virus packages did. I bought a new computer a few months ago and "step one" was removing "Norton Anti-Virus" out of my new computer. I very much agree with what David has said (above) about Kapersky and Norton. Well, you all have a good night. Bob F. |

Today people seemed to be having problems using McAfee with XP SP3. MA detected svchost.exe as false positive and the computer wasn't able to reboot after that. The update isn't available in the servers anymore.
