Re: odd difference between vista and ubuntu!

Next, I will run the same test on a Q6600 on Vista x64 and Ubuntu x64, but will use 100 single replication results.

Here are the results of the Vista x64 vs. Kubuntu x64 test, but instead of 100 tasks I only got 65 in Vista so I am only using the first 65 from Linux as well.

Q6600 running at 3303 MHz
PC8500 DDR2 at 1101 MHz

Vista x64 min.. 20.8904 max.. 24.1033 avg.. 22.8784
Linux x64 min.. 21.6933 max.. 25.1055 avg.. 23.9489

Not as much credit difference between Windows and Linux as the AMD had. Maybe due to the Intel chip having a larger L2 cache. czahn's Phenom 9850 only has 2MB of L3 cache. Is it possible that Linux deals with a smaller L2/L3 cache better than Windows does?
