The first thing I would try is an orderly shutdown of the laptop, wait a few minutes and then turn it back on. You may have tried this already, but if you have not it is worth a try. Cheers This laptop goes to work with me and so it gets shutdown and started every day but weekends and then it runs 24 hours. On Sundays I do my updates because I am on the old dial-up. That is when I update Windows and my Virus program. Depending on the updates I have to reboot. ![]() |

Yes, WCG initializes over secure port 443, from client to server, so that port has to be open, outbound. You can do that if concerned to just the 2 IP addresses of WCG. 198.20.8.241 + 246

TrustedDragon, have you changed anything relating to this computer recently? Installed or updated security software or patches? Changed the network configuration?
I want to know which errors we can safely ignore, because you seem to have multiple problems right now. The original error you reported: was it a HPF2 task? For the network problem, I would like you to enable some debugging messages. I would like you to replace your cc_config.xml file with the following: <cc_config> <log_flags> <file_xfer_debug>1</file_xfer_debug> <http_debug>1</http_debug> <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug> <proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug> </log_flags> <options> <client_version_check_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download.ph...ent_version_check_url> <client_download_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download.php</client_download_url> <network_test_url>http://www.ibm.com/</network_test_url> <start_delay>120</start_delay> </options> </cc_config> To do this, locate the cc_config.xml file in your data directory, edit it, then reload it using Read config file in the Advanced menu of BOINC Manager. |

Reminds me of Buellers day off, the dog eating the teacher ;p The Result status page would have told the exact run time, but your log is good enough too, the right section. The job failed within 2 minutes, which is what HPF2 does if it does not like the setup, and we absolutely do not know what it is in the setup, but 99.9% sure it's Vista. Please do read all other posts in this thread as things move fast here. When I went to the error page the only thing I was what I posted. If I missed it maybe I looked in the wrong place??? ![]() |

Result Status page is the place from where you pulled the error log. To the right are reported run time and credit claim/grant. But, your log did say your Human Proteome Folding 2 job failed within 2 minutes.

The task that errored out was MI481 00078 13-- Will the above file change anything for my other projects? In about 30 mins the last WU for uFliud will be ready to upload. I was thinking about detaching WCG and re-ataching and see if that works. Only thing I have done to that laptop was install BOINC on the "Backup" HDD. I did attach WCG and uFluid to it. Only I didn't check the Computer's Name on that Drive. If it's not the same as the normal drive would that cause a problem? ![]() |

But, your log did say your Human Proteome Folding 2 job failed within 2 minutes. Guess I missed that one because I didn't see it on the screen when I went to upload my WU's. The one that stood out was the one I saw in the Task Tab that said "Compute Error" (I think that's how it was showing). ![]() |

You can do that if concerned to just the 2 IP addresses of WCG. 198.20.8.241 + 246 I thought BOINC took care of this when it talks to the projects and sets up the projects when you attach to them. My firewall program has BOINC listed 3 times.... nothing about 443 is listed. BOINCMGR.exe is listed 1 time and 2 for BOINC Client. ![]() |

No. OK, Now I am confuserated!!!! The HP is the laptop that I installed the BOINC on it's "Backup" The HP is the laptop that has the 4 files that will not finish downloading (each one has started and then stopped part way or almost completed) The HP is the Windows MCE. The Dell is the one that had the error. The Dell is the one that is reporting "Recent Lost Work" The Dell is the Vista OS. ![]() |
