ERRORS and thingies

I had my 1st ERROR in a long time:

<core_client_version>6.2.18</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
Incorrect function. (0x1) - exit code 1 (0x1)
</message>
<stderr_txt>
ERROR:: Exit at: .\dock_structure.cc line:401

</stderr_txt>

Could anyone tell me if this was me or the WU??

Also, on my HP Laptop I have 4 WU's that's been trying to download and I get a message saying that the internet is ok the site my be down. But my other PC's are transfering WU's with no problem.

Also this HP is getting WU's from the other projects it's attached to.

Any ideas on what the problem is?

Re: ERRORS and thingies

Hi, and yes it's a thingie, the error and it's your device not able to handle HPF2 jobs correctly. Some can't, mostly Vista computers. If you look in your Result Status page, does it tell how much time it ran before failing?

Was above error on a different device than the HP laptop?

Re: ERRORS and thingies

Hello TrustedDragon,
Searching for error 0x1, all I find is http://www.boinc-wiki.info/Unrecoverable_erro...(0x1)_-_exit_code_1_(0x1))

When BOINC does not communicate with WCG but does with other projects, I suspect a problem with the SSL protocol that WCG uses. The first thing to check is your time and date. The next thing is to post the actual messages from the Message tab here.

It is now showing an HTTP Error (that don't help me much) confused

The HP is the only Laptop it is doing this on. The HP runs Windows MCE which is from what I been reading is like XP PRO.

I am thinking of aborting those downloads and re-attaching WGC?????

Stealthily somewhere a proxy (but you would know that given the other devices work fine)?

Re: ERRORS and thingies

The first thing I would try is an orderly shutdown of the laptop, wait a few minutes and then turn it back on. You may have tried this already, but if you have not it is worth a try.

Cheers

Re: ERRORS and thingies

Think I'm going to put that rule at the very top of the Start Here FAQ index... boot first in orderly fashion. smile

Edit: Done together with the correct clock / date comment :D

Re: ERRORS and thingies

Reminds me of Buellers day off, the dog eating the teacher ;p

The Result status page would have told the exact run time, but your log is good enough too, the right section. The job failed within 2 minutes, which is what HPF2 does if it does not like the setup, and we absolutely do not know what it is in the setup, but 99.9% sure it's Vista.

Please do read all other posts in this thread as things move fast here.

If I am getting work from other projects on the HP would that rule out a connection problem???

Does WCG use a different "port" then other projects? I have no clue as to how to tell what port is used by what program so if that is the case I need some help on that.

BOINC seems to have no trouble talking to other projects.

All I know is the laptop was downloading files and the last 4 files can't seem to download.
