Three Base Campers have left the Maine trek.
One, Doneske, had business elsewhere. Two, TLD and tanner2, are SeriousCrunchers. I'm conduction a market research. Why did TLD and tanner2 leave the trek? a. Black flies? b. Should little mermaid take it personally? b. Only black bears - no grizzlies? c. Lack of communication with the host team? d. Homesickness? e. Too much seafood and veggies? f. Other |

Lm.. It is probably C...It is much more interesting to interact with the host team than not. While your daily updates and pictorials are inspiring, the host should show some involvement. Just my 2 cents. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by sujo1 at Apr 24, 2018 2:02:18 PM] |

Just my 2 cents. ![]() Not b, that's for sure tanner2, no matter how low you're staying it's great to have you along. mmm must be f, just staying low key now a days Thank you both of you for giving your opinions. I see in the Base Camp thread that acpartsman has thoughts along the same lines. I find it interesting to be an unpaid PR-person for Maine, but honestly, it's very time consuming. I realize I started it myself - and now I don't know how to end it again I would rather be writing essays about my interesting doctors' visits .... They are! Today my dermatologist put a little dab of very expensive cream - and I mean expensive - some $5,000 an ounce on the cancer she scraped away some six week ago. That should identify whatever bad cells might remain and after three hours I came back to her and had it radiated with some red light that should make those suspicious cells pop like popcorn. To be repeated next week. I agree totally with all Base Campers who have aired their opinions so far, and rather than bury Base Camp I shall think (yes! THINK ) about what we can do, and I'll certainly appreciate any input from each and every Base Camper and Base Camper candidate. |

In the old UD days (if I remember correctly) We would forward candidates for invasion, wait no that's not it, for camping trips then vote for the worthy team. I must say that may not be as easy as the old days.( no off campus forum) at the very least get to know the captains/active members before y'all jump. Again not really my place to say as I can not join in the trips. ![]() ![]() |

Certainly, sujo1, you are an experienced Base Camper, so all input from you is good input.
But no, we don't have that many active teams - teams with team threads - any more. I did contact cjslman of Cahuamos - but, poor man, he's all alone, what can he do? I had contact with Johnny Cool of Andrax - that went fairly well. Hungary was a communicative disaster. Maine turns out to be the same, but never mind, that's where acpartsman wanted to go. I have used myself as an advance scout with Public Libraries of America - oh, would I have loved to go there! without any response. I think rule #1 should be that if Base Camp doesn't get a reaction when approaching a candidate one way or another, we cannot go. I'm afraid the number of candidates no longer is big enough for us to put them up for a vote. Yes, you're right, we did that at some point. Now, I have an appointment with Bearcat of Minnesota Crunchers for May 2nd. That's an active team, so perhaps we can whip up something, eh? tanner2, you're from Minnesota. Would going there be all right with you? ![]() |

You may want to try a more less subtle approach to the problem of camping trips. I.E. BASE CAMP WANTS YOU!( place one of your mermaids pointing outward ala uncle sam posters) DO YOU HAVE A TEAM that wants a boost, just tell us and we will open a dialogue with any and all. WE WOULD LOVE to come camp in your back yard. I know this a little over the top, but you can do this in your own wonderful style. just a thought. ![]() ![]() |

Do you know what, sujo1?
That's bloody - just checked the dictionary; it should be permissable language good thinking I shall certainly put your suggestion on my dreamburner overnight Have you been in marketing? I'm particularly fond of this picture, but I don't think it's suitable on a family forum except for undercover. I have a mermaid dressed as Uncle Sam - only she's a 4th of July one ... ![]() I'll certainly consult you on these issues in all future. What a talent! I think you could talk a cow out of her clover field - as they say where I live. - or sell sand in Sahara - we say that, too |
