Guess I can't sneak back in without people noticing.
---------------------------------------- Did a little tour of teams helping out with challenges, and such, but have found my way back home. Good to be back, and see so many familiar people active. Missing a few but like me I am sure they will pop in from time to time. Setting in into the new house, and after a few setbacks, have sold the old one. Busy building a shed (from scratch) in the back yard matter of fact should get out there before it starts getting to hot. Let me pour out the coffee and let us catch up on things. ![]() ![]() |

It's been awhile since my last post.
---------------------------------------- The android tablets are working well, the production of X units per day seems to be stable. ( never turned off) The Wu's seem to have gotten a lot longer to crunch but, they are producing a lot more points...... I guess it all works out. The lowly dually that is also crunching is chugging right along at about 1000 points per day. On the 20th of this month the dually will be shut down until the 23rd. I need to set a base line to see the cost of production. After that will see if the budget can stand the stress or if I can add/subtract comps.( got 2 quads setting idle) Temps are still in the upper 90's here, so the air conditioners are still running full blast. Got to go for now.John ![]() |

'got 2 quads setting idle'
How times have changed 'eh John. Back in earlier days it was the hardware soaked up the pennies, now it's the power to run. While I'm here, SC has been misbehaving, is in the naughty corner and currently offline. I have been struggling to plug the holes a while now so given the forum we're using is no longer maintained, maybe it's time we went a fresh start. Thoughts welcome. ![]() |

Your saying that you have not been the person that has been slowly running me down in the points?? Did you build a machine/or give one away with boinc on it? Maybe GP is giving you points back.

I have 12 physical + 12 Hyperthreading cores, in addition to crunching, they get used for work/home use, and of course gaming, so I find I lose between 10 and 40% of potential crunching power due to what I actually bought the computers for.
----------------------------------------They are all getting older (i7 860/870/920), but they do everything I ask of them, so it hard to justify replacing them. I keep looking, but awfully hard to justify replacing hardware that has a proven track record, and is doing everything I need. So I will be crunching out at 24 cores for probably at least another year, while I wait for something truly amazing to come out, that I can justify the updating costs. Been kind of holding out for 8 core 16 thread processors that don't require a server motherboard. ![]() |
