OK, thanks. I always worry when giving advice. That's one of the reasons I hated being in practice - there were never really any right answers just well informed guesses.
----------------------------------------So I was busy last night and today if you saw any of my other threads. I put the 7870 in the server which didn't work so I tried to add it to another rig which didn't work. So then I pulled a 7950 out of the 1090T and put in crossfire config into one of the 2600k's. That eventually worked and now this machine has 20 threads running. I put the 7870 into the 1090T and that has 7 threads. The remaining 2600k has 8 threads. So all tolled --> 35 threads. I think what I'll do is get a new PSU for the 1090 so I can run another 7870 with the existing one in xfire and call it a day. edit: BTW, I was thinking of building the last server and runing for people on the team for the cost of electricity. I think it will probably pull around 200watts, maybe less. My marginal rate on juice I think is 18 cents but that was over the summer, it might be lower now. So worst case figure 200x24x30 = 144 kwhr x .18 = $26 per month. However this assumes I can find an outlet to plug it into. I think I can plug it in in my office since I have a 700 watt a/c in there in the summer normally so that should work. ![]() ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by twilyth at Nov 18, 2012 10:35:12 PM] |

I almost hit 200k today and the pack of hungry wolves on my tail is thinning out.
----------------------------------------Our team has moved up 11 slots in the past 40 days but 5 of those have been in the past 4 days. A slot a day keeps the wolfies away. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Just a heads up. It looks like the HCC project hasn't kept up with the demand for wu's and there is a temporary (hopefully) shortage. Here is the thread on it . We probably won't have any more wu's until next week, but that is just my supposition. Right now we don't even have an estimate so it could be shorter or longer.
----------------------------------------Anyway, if you want to switch your rigs back to normal crunching, this is what I did. 1. shut down boinc 2. go to profile manager and set up a different profile that includes HCC but also at least one other project. 3. switch the rig to that profile 4. rename your app_info file. I just put a $ in front so it stays at the top of the directory listing. 5. restart boinc manager and update This should pick up the new profile and start downloading new wu's. It should also pick up HCC wu's when they're available so you can be informed of when things change. ![]() ![]() |

Hey guys. With this morning's update I'm now ranked 201st in BOINC points so with any luck, tonight I should move into the top 200. That will be a first for me so that's kind of a big deal here at casa del Twil. Me and the cat will be boogiein' down with some Korbel rosé and some funky music. Come on over and join the par-tay.

Thank you sir. I was a little premature, what with the hiccup we had with HCC-GPU wu's, but after that was resolved, things got back on track - more or less. I'm still only using 4 of the 6 GPU's though but I'm working on that.
----------------------------------------Our team has also done well and has move up 6 positions since Thanksgiving. So the moral is: Eat work units, not turkey. ![]() ![]() |

Any idea what has happened to Beth (GP). She has not been seen or crunched for a while

No she left awhile back, during her (I think) eye surgery. She stated that "you'll see me when you see me". Maybe Sport knows more, If and when he checks in.

I don't actually know anyone here. I'm just a ringer they hired to play on their team.
----------------------------------------Crunchin' bin berry, berry, gud to me. Seriously though, I'm starting to get to know some of the people who can actually tolerate my missives on everything from gambling to quantum mechanics. It's like having your very own crazy, loquacious homeless person but without the smell and messy clean up. ![]() ![]() |

Since the last update, we moved from position 179 to 167. Normally the higher you go, the slower the going, but hopefully that's not going to be the case for us. We'll see.
