I have been running Einstein@Home for several years but switching over here. Einstein@Home runs BOINC also but when I installed the new version I notice that BOINC was 6.2.28 where as Einstein at 6.4 something.
Also, I use Vista 64 and when I installed I installed a 64-bit version of BOINC but when I installed the Community Grid version it was 32-bit only. Why would the software be down level and why couldn't I download a 64-bit version of BOINC? Thanks for any help. |

Berkeley release BOINC versions on their own schedule, with their own targets. Often they release versions with known issues or cursory testing - they are happy to let the entire community do their beta testing. World Community Grid tests much more carefully: http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/BOINC_beta_testing
There is no benefit in using a 64 bit version of BOINC. The work is done by the science applications that BOINC downloads from World Community Grid. BOINC 6.4 has no new features except partial GPU support. Consequently, World Community Grid won't be recommending that version - no new features, but lots of new bugs - no thanks! |

In case you want to do some Einstein crunching once in a while, I'd guess ver 6.4 64bit works fine also with WCG. Consider downgrading if you face problems.

Einstein doesn't need 6.4 either.
