Your work network is probably behind a proxy server.
If it is, you'd need to configure it under Options/HTTP proxy. However, then when you aren't connected to the work network, you'll get connection failures. I'm guessing that you may just need to set your work queue large enough to bridge any time periods when you are connected to the work network, and then let the communications happen when you are at home. ripleys,
----------------------------------------I'd actually like to see a longer piece of the BOINC msg log to see how the crash out is recorded there whilst with some extra log flags set in the cc_config.xml for additional information. If off-line, set the BOINC Activity menu option to "Suspend Network". That stops wasting time by BOINC to try to communicate with the servers, a known source of work crashing in versions before 6. VPNin, if BOINC has a 30 second or longer interruption of communication, a result will be broken off in many cases. I'd thoroughly review also all the security software to make sure free passage is allowed for BOINC over localhost IP 127.0.0.1 and port 31416 used for RPC, strictly inside the host and set exceptions so the AV does not interfere either, and some do.

I don't know if this will help but anytime I "upgrade" BOINC I set all projects to NNT (No New Tasks) and wait for the last one to upload. I then make a backup of the BOINC Folder (I do this by coping the folder to another place and give it a name like "Backup Date BOINC".
----------------------------------------I then uninstall BOINC and install the "upgrade". I then check the Message Tab after I start BOINC for any errors. If none I set the project to "ANT" (Allow New Tasks) Once I see everyone playing nicely I delete the backup. I also have a Folder on my desktop named BOINC Files where I keep any info for BOINC in there plus the last 3 know good BOINC programs. ![]() |
