Publishing number of consolidated pieces of Work for each projekt?

I assume, that in the background of Worldcommunitygrid respectively each projekt
is someone who regularily checks the state of each projekt. He or she checks
how many rsults have been returned.

In theory, the number of the results being procesed should steadily go up.

However, somtetimes a result (piece of work) is sent out to a host, but not completed.

This is why sometimes pieces of work (results) with a lower numer are beeing procesed,
even if there have been procesed pieces of work with a higher number before.

Example: One day, the worldcommunitygrid server sends out pieces of work withe the number from one to ten.

If there was a guarantee that all pieces of work would really be procesed, then the server could send out pieces of work with the number from eleven to twenty the next day.

Onfortunately sometimes a piece of work is not procesed properly. This is why the server may have to send out piece of work with the number nine, for example, again the next day.

This ist the reason, why the number of the piece of work sometimes "jumps back". Our computers process for example piece of work number 5, even if they have already processed piece number 10 before.

However, each projekt must have a "consolidated" number of pieces of work. This consolidated number of pieces of work describes the number of the piece of work below which there are no "unprocessed" pieces of work.

For example, if a project has a consolidate number of pieces of work at hundred, this means, that all pieces of work form one to hundred in a row have really been processed.
In other words:
In the row from piece of work with number one to piece of work number hundred, there are now unprocessed, undone pieces of work.

My question is now, whether Worldcommunitzgrid could provide a place on its webpage, where each projekt could publish the consolidated number of processed pieces of work?

It should be possible for each project to publish several consolidated numbers of pieces of work (results) already processed together with tha date they occured.

For example:
Help conquer cancer: consolidated number of results on January 2009: X000000080023
consolidated number of results on February 2009: X000000090050
consolidated number of results on March 2009: X0000000100050

And so on.
Goal of this: Permanent monitoring of progress witout writing status reports.

What about that?
Bye
Kafejka

Hello Kafejka,
The batch numbers on work units are not strictly sequential. Normally, they keep going up but they often jump around.

Sekerob,
Your graphs are wonderful, but I think he is looking for a spreadsheet.

Cheers

My trouble of not seeing things not adding value yet involving labour, in my view. It's no beginning.

The FAAH Status site has probably the nearest in place. Experiment with batch numbers and the % pie on progress. The RICE has a different one. A block of the 40,000 genes and color coded to indicate start and completion.

cheers
