adding more RAM

i have 10 core 2 duo with 1GB RAM, and i just added more RAM to each computer so total having 2GB of ram. This does make crunching more faster or not biggrin

and i also tweak boinc by using 75% of RAM when working and 90% of ram when idle confused

Re: adding more RAM

Actually, the major difference to get fractional speed improvement is defragging disk, including running swapfile defragger: http://technet.microsoft.com/nl-nl/sysinternals/bb897426(en-us).aspx

And of course "Leave application in Memory", when client is paused, benchmarking and or project swapping. I reckon latter can save an hour and more per day on a duo or quad with a default 60 minutes project switch time, particularly if setting the client to only crunch when idle.

Re: adding more RAM

If not interested in fractional improvement (understatement v.v. some of the options), you ignore; it's that easy. Other's might still be interested. Performance tips are covered in various FAQ posts, where utilities are discussed for instance. Tips that don't need you to shell out money.
