I noticed something after checking the emergency job that my computer did (mine was number 20). This is the other emergency job and yielded a very low credit. I would think that a low credit would be understandable for a very slow computer, but do we have reliable computers that can crunch only one or two seeds in a span of 10 2/3 hours?

Given the 0.69 fraction, it will lcould have been in the range of 16 seeds or indeed just 2-3. Click on the Valid link on the Result Status page to see them. Given that a seed credit mean is calculated of total seeds in a quorum and claim, the fallout could indeed lead to so little credit.
----------------------------------------Now how much electricity did go into 10 hours, 2-3 seeds. Should that computer be on 24/7 just for crunching?

My slowest P4 (I think in the 3GHz neighborhood) still claims at least 70-80 credits for a Rice WU. I long ago decommissioned any PIII's hanging around, figuring they weren't anywhere near powerful enough to pull their weight considering the electricity usage.
But then again if that's all you have and still want to make a contribution then it's better than nothing. |
