Any suggestions wether to uncheck or not .. Hi JP. I've left mine checked so that I can get right back into it again when the type B WUs start to get issued, as I have a gold badge to aim for. Also, since the units ran out I've picked up a CEP WU which was one that was reissued either due to an error, inconclusive result or due to not being returned within the allowed timeframe. If there's no work for it then it won't hurt to leave it checked, provided you either have other projects checked and/or the "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project" option selected. HI Matt , in other words leave it all as it always has been .. Cheers JP |

To Snow Crash and Adriano-CRO:
----------------------------------------1. Having slow machines is not really a handicap for getting badges. OK you are trying to get a CEP WU less often than with a quad, but when you get one it is much more "profitable": on my old P4 the slowest WU has reached 88.26 hours and I think the average was about 24 hours. 2. This pause in distribution is not the end of phase 1, I think. It is the end of phase 1 only for the first set of work, or the first experiment, if you prefer. When the whole cycle is complete for this exploratory work I am sure there will be more type-A WUs to come. If you look back at the first launching posts you will find mentions of type A, B and C WUs. We still have much more fun to enjoy. Cheers. Jean. |

JM - thank you for the clarifications ...
----------------------------------------1. I actually knew that but got distracted trying to set an upbeat tone because Adriano seemed to be unsatisfied with the CEP project experience due to what I percieved to be a misunderstanding of the available options in project profile. I would hate to see anyone get discouraged (with the implication that they might leave) under those circumstances.[Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Feb 21, 2009 1:38:56 PM] |

No problem Steve, my purpose was the same: "Adriano, keep hope!".
---------------------------------------- And I will try to help Adriano to be ready and successful when CEP distribution starts again: If you can keep an eye on your client and on the forum at least 2-3 times a day: 1. Select CEP and Rice only in your machine's profile, and keep your extra work buffer to 0.5 day maximum. Don't check the box "if no work is available send work from other projects". With Rice you will make sure that your client will fetch work at least once every ten hours, and soon every six hours. 2. When you receive a new CEP WU or when you read that CEP distribution has really restarted - - remove Rice from your machine's profile - raise your extra work buffer to 5 days - update the WCG project from the advanced view of BoincMgr, and watch CEP WUs come. That may take some time before you have close to 5 days of queued WUs. 3. Keep this setting as long as new CEP WUs are falling into your client's queue when results are reported. 4. If there is a new shortage, when your client is close to become idle simply go back to step 1. If the initial condition cannot be achieved check the box "send other work" to avoid becoming idle, but your client will be one level below for receiving CEP WUs (but still above the "all projects" clients). Good luck Adriano! Jean. ![]() |

I have selected "Help Conquer Cancer", "Fight Aids" and "Clean Energy Project", other options are unselected. Cache extra work is on 0.3.
I will try your advice JmBoullier when CEP WU's become available. ...and do not worry guys, that little problem will not discourage me. Thanks all for answers ![]() |

Maybe 2 that Harreld is waiting for to be validated, 2 of an estimated 1750-2000 that will validate today.

Just released the last from the queue that is due on the 28th. The Quorum partner did 13 hours on this chunk. 4 left in PV, one from the 14th and 1 Inconclusive. So daily returns wont be dying down completely until probably another week, or more.
