Re: .

Evening all

A mild day and a good turnout for the monthly Village gardening group, which gets larger all the time. Today was moving a ton or so of fresh topsoil in preparation for a new look provided by an expert and paid for by a mixture of council grant and Village Association function money,

The great thing is that it starts to get a local feeling. A couple of years ago and there would be, perhaps, three of us clearing up and doing a bit of weeding and bulb planting. When I arrived today, there were already nearly twenty dealing with the large pile in the centre. Others ask what's going on and the local Spar brings a drink and a financial contribution.

As always, it needs some little dynamo to start the thing off and that we have. One of our regulars, a Canadian actor will now be in Bolton and then Scarborough and is still sad to miss the monthly meetings.

Re: .

morning all smile
48f and dead calm,
Your village Percy Thrower efforts are a great community event Ivan
we don't as far as I know have anything locally
but in recent months a couple of white corporation vans have disgorged small gangs of people in day glow tabards They have cleaned up some Grot spots corners that have Elder and Buddlia growing rampant, Mulched with coke cans bin bags & assorted rubbish A knee high tangle of weeds has been cleared and the neglected corners now look respectable .
I have been told that the "Gang" are "community order" offenders sad
At least you can see the results and they have paid back in a way that is visible to the community
Enjoy the rest of the weekend* folks.

* for those of us to whom the term weekend means little now.
The weekend is two days on which you try to avoid venturing into Sainsbuggers or the like. Paper boys pass your door backs bent under heavy sacks of colour supplements.
In a few weeks you will see people that you haven't seen since early Octember toiling in their gardens planting bedding plants that the surprise late frost will kill . Hubbies sweating over a lawn mowers that worked perfectly when they were dumped at the back of the Garage.....

Re: .

good morning .........

Orf to see the Grandson play rugby, took the trouble and strife once to see him play, had to pull her off the pitch when he got fouled and the shouting from the sideline during the match was embarrasing to say the least. blushing

Have a good day

Old Sage wink

Re: .

Morning all.

Question for all you medically aware folks
Why are you made to wear those stupid Hospital gowns back to front ???
I was given one the other day & was instructed to wear the ties at the back. something I have often had to do never seen the logic of it tho
okay that's not rocket science, however, the gown only had one tie so wouldn't fasten any way.And why have it open at the back they were doing a chest scan and I kept the gown On. why cant they be worn like a pinnyfore with a wrap over ???
When I go for the Echo Cardiogram My instructions received today directs the ladies to wear "separates" is that a Cardie and a Jumper???

Blokes just turn up as you are??

Whenever I have had an echo, it is blokes just turn up as you are. For a CT scan I did have to wear a gown, but done up at the front, i.e. the 'wrong way round'. I'm sure there has to be something better too.

Anyway, I will try and get out on my bike, but may get blown away! biggrin

Evening all

A mild day outside, a local friend called and then stayed for lunch so time just disappeared.
