Good morning one and all...................A good start to the Easter break...TV gave up the ghost last night .... I thought her indoors would have withdrawal symptoms but we sat and had a real conversation for the first time in I don't know how many years?. I hardly watch the screen myself, preferring the radio, I have always considered the box to be the scourge of the 20th century. Anyway, looked on the Internet and found a 32"LCD Digital At Argos for a very reasonable £249.00 I say reasonable because every other set was over the £300.00 mark Hope you all have a peaceful and happy Easter Old 'Bankrupt' Sage ![]() |

Morning all
----------------------------------------19inch integrated Digital HD TV from Asda £130.00 including delivery My tv went south a couple of years ago and the repair guy suggested ASDA they give 12 months guarantee should it go wrong and he said the sets on offer were good design so I took his advice ![]() I 'spect they have bigger sets but this one was in my paper this morning.Looking on T'internet they have a integrated dvd 22 inch Goodmans TV for 247 quid . What a choice much much more than the single channel B&W 12inch tvs in huge cabinets that you could fit Magnifying screens to best viewed in darkened room ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Apr 10, 2009 8:41:50 AM] |

Evening all
What I think is amazing is how good and reliable TVs are now. I had to renew last year but what went pear shaped was the subsidiary services; both scart connections failed to work so the PVR and the DVD player were cut off. Even then it had given me seven years good service. Not like the first TV I had which, sensibly at the time, I rented because you were guaranteed rapid service when it went wrong which, in fact meant they took the one you had away and put another in its place. Now all those stores have long gone. As for HD it'll be a few years still to see if this means anything. I'm not about to fit up a dish just to get Freeview Plus and so it won't be until the whole country has become digital. Even then, those who know say that unless you're into one of the monsters I see in Curry's or the supermarket, you won't really notice the difference. As for current watching, apart from Mad Men and Damages and Newsnight it's a DVD for me. apart from F1 of course. I won't go over to Sky so my wife, in particular, misses the Test Matches. |

I'm not about to fit up a dish just to get Freeview Plus and so it won't be until the whole country has become digital. Me neither. I'm not getting a new TV until the one I have one dies, but it has been very reliable for a cathode ray tube box, so not sure when that might be. Lots of lovely rain, but not sign of the grass seeds germinating yet. ![]() |

We are about to have the proper money, £sd... Feet and Inches signal switched off.All Tv's sold now should be Digital ready incorperating freeview of course,No need for a Dish it does come in via the ether, When Digital does come to your area the Digital signal is boosted .I havnt looked on the web site lately to see how Cumbria (Thats Westmorland & Cumberland in old money) faired. It was a very poor area for analogue reception (don't know if it was The Hills, The Lakes,The Rain or the Sheep) some places were only able to get 3 channels yes thats correct , So when Digi came along promising 50+, hands clapped. SPORT Missed the Marbles Championships in Tinsley green yesterday apparently we beat the "sun bed towel layers" by one point Lords is relaxing the dress code Fancy dress will be allowed !!!! Not in the long room of course . There are limits however Long socks must be worn when wearing shorts and sandals quite right too ![]() |

Good morning
---------------------------------------- It took some hunting but last year when I had to by a new tele, I went for the old fashioned CRT. I can't get over the lack of CRT's (above 20") on the market. I just can't afford a flat screen, I'm not into HD, space is not an issue, and if flat screens aren't any more relyable than their computer cousins then I'm definitely not getting one. WE keep an extra screen at work just because we never know when we're going to walk in and have a dead screen (2 so far and we've been open less than 2 years). If I have to pay 5-7 hundred bucks for a 32" flat screen tele then I might as well pay 1100 and get a projection unit and have a 10 foot screen. And I'm sure if I hunt around i can get a deal like my son did. He got a used Proxima $4500 projector for $300. Sure he had to buy a $260 bulb almost immediately but hey, it has great picture quality and will project up to a 21 foot picture. Anywho, hope everyone has a great weekend. ![]()
