Evening all

I think I would agree with 'hot' for today's weather. Carpenter arrived at nine as promised and the sun has already begun to reach yard outside the back door.
Of course, I soon found that I was also designated Carpenter's Mate so I became fully involved in the effort by holding, fetching, cleaning, and, with a break for lunch it was five before I had finished the clearing up.
Still it was good to be able to see a real craftsman adjust to size, get everything to fit the not quite square door frame and to fit all the furniture so that it worked precisely.
I've now also read the leaflet that was attached to the door and it tells me that 5 coats of a good varnish should be sufficient. So it's off to Homebase early tomorrow to, at least, get a couple of coats outside whilst the weather remains hot and the rain doesn't come for the second week of Wimbledon.

I am inclined to see how humble I must be, before sniggering at France, and although I agree somewhat, I still love Henry with a passion, despite his 'hand of God' goal.
