---------------------------------------- The digital signal received through the Ariel has now been increased In this area my retune shows 100+tv channels and 30 radio, a good change over .I am not in a position to give objective view about reception as I can see the transmitting Ariel at Kellet about 2 miles away on high ground overlooking the district .I also have the ability to switch on to the Cable our whole area was cabled up three or four years ago . >>>>>>>>>>>>> Sunny morning here although its showing a low 996mbar |

I watched a programme about the battle of britain yesterday, not a bit like I remember it! the wrong guy won? digital tv is being agressively pushed in Belgium as the federal government owns one company, the flemish regional authority owns the other big contender and I think together they just own the market I will be the last belgian to switch over to that willingly (though i guess sooner or later they'll just force people by quitting the cable broadcasts) compared to the countries around us it's way overpriced (like internet and telephone costs) and cable looks really cool on our biggg telly also ![]() |

If you have Cable Evy stick with it .I suspect that your broadcasters will fall in line with other countries and do a switch off of the signal you get from your normal Ariel, substituting it with a digital signal.Only guessing here but if its the same as in England a small pretty cheap (approx£25.00) box will see you back up to speed.
----------------------------------------The official reason in UK for change is to free up bandwidth in the analogue spectrum. There is no reason for the cable systems to be done away with ours for instance supplies Phone and Internet as well as TV ![]() ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Dec 5, 2009 5:08:39 PM] |

Evening all
The weather stayed dry and also very mild for our monthly gardening duty so the Sun God looks down on its noble servants. As for cable and so on, there is a connection outside my front gate which has been there from before I bought the place. Both BT and Mr Virgin keep trying to make me activate it but a quick look at what the minimum subscription would give me gives me no good reason to start paying. I suppose if I could be selective and pay an annual fee which just allowed me to watch Test Matches, I may well have been tempted. So I chose a monthly subscription to a DVD rental firm which is much less than the basic level of cable or Sky and lets me see the films I want each month. As for Radio the nearly 30 year old FM portable I have playing for me in the background here is still far superior in sound quality than the digital thing I bought for my wife a couple of years back. When all the TV changes have been made they promise to double the bit rate and get good quality but as that's about three years off, I can hardly wait. |

Evening all
The great downpour gave up about mid morning here and sunshine has managed to dry things up quite a bit and it's pretty mild out for this month. However, it looks like more of the same for the next few days at least. Fortunately, I live on high ground. |
