scoring beta workunits

I just thought about scoring beta workunits. If you limit your cache to just the running workunits you have I higher chance of getting 1 workunit because the settings dictate that they check for beta workunits before getting normal workunits. correct me if im wrong please..

Yes, you're wrong.... :-)

Changing your cache size simply changes the point at which your scheduler requests happen, but not the frequency.

Re: scoring beta workunits

This "illusion" was in fact a misunderstanding between the staff and us. We believed that beta WUs were sent only to "fast returners" while it was said last week that it does not matter.

That said, under the "illusion mode" (which still applies for getting repair WUs or not) there is no need to run without any work queue. Whether you are a fast returner or a very very fast returner makes no difference. Once your average turnaround time is below 21 hours there is no need to decrease it to an absolute minimum.

Cheers. Jean.
