Re: How much have left?

Just wondering if someone uses Core7 CPUs on this project, and whats the avarage time of completion of one work unit is?

P.S on my quadcores avarage completion time is: 4h20Mins.

Re: How much have left?

Then again, our computers will get better and grid will grow. So we can shift it to 2 years top. Let's think positive. smile

With positive thinking, not that our computers will get better and grow, so will the number of overall project (last I saw was 10 for this year) running on WCG so our computers will be busy crunching lots of different projects.

If you want to see where the specific numeric pointers are heading for HCC, follow the project performance chart: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=18662.

The average job run time creeping down indicates a mean increase in computing power. After the initial hick-ups, the average settled on 7 hours / task and now we're hitting the 6 hour mark, which happens to be a target that WCG has also set for FAAH, DDDT and RICE. I can't remember an announcement on re-cut of HPF2, but their average fell too... which could also be indicating a different experiment. See http://tinyurl.com/WCGART

cheers

Right now I complete each unit in 3.5 to 3.75 hours per unit on 4 quads, the duals are 5.5 hours. It's all I crunch since cancer hit my family, although I will deviate for a badge when they pop up.

k.t.

Re: How much have left?

About the same (4h20mins) on my i7 but that is with 8 tasks running. The i7 has HT so it appears as 8 cpu's but only has 4 cores.

Re: How much have left?

Wow, I wish...I really need to upgrade my server. I'm running a 2.8GHz P4 HyperThread...both "cores" running HCC and it is taking anywhere from 15 to 18 hours to complete a WU. But FAAH only takes about 8 hours per WU.

On Hyperthreaded it's to be expected that 2 HCC take 15 hours each, but that a result of broken timekeeping. Each just gets half of that time in real cycles, and probably explains paired down credit, if you wondered about that. Why FAAH is running 8 hours; maybe because it runs it alone, lacking room for a second job in memory to run concurrently?
