Re: How much have left?

No, we can't be specific.

Well, we could - but then we wouldn't be accurate.

Instead of relying on a misleading percentage figure, keep up with the progress here: http://www.cs.toronto.edu/~juris/WCG/wcg-hcc.html

Re: How much have left?

I don't demand you to be specific. I would be happy to know if it is something like 20% or rather 70%.
I read this progress posts on regular basic, but I would like to know some more predictions (may be false, but as good as we know) on the remaining time.
Sorry for my poor English.

Re: How much have left?

Our most recent estimate is that the project has work until 2013.

This estimate will change.

Re: How much have left?

I seem to recall that there will be 80,000,000 workunits to crunch. Each one needs to be done twice. 160,000,000 results. We have done 31,000,000. I think we average about 60,000 a day. At the current rate that would be about 1050 more days or so, about 3 to 3 1/2 years worth. So I would think Didactylos is pretty much on the mark. This is just off the top of my head figuring so if anyone wants to correct this or make it more accurate, please do so.

Cheers

Re: How much have left?

Then again, our computers will get better and grid will grow. So we can shift it to 2 years top. Let's think positive. smile

With positive thinking, not that our computers will get better and grow, so will the number of overall project (last I saw was 10 for this year) running on WCG so our computers will be busy crunching lots of different projects.

80m x 2 is correct, plus some fallout due errors, Sgt.Joe.

The target is 2013 by last word and this one is integer intensive wink The scientists were going to look at ways to identify early in the analysis if a target is at all meaningful. A month or so ago there was a post about that. http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=22462#193298

If you want to see where the specific numeric pointers are heading for HCC, follow the project performance chart: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=18662.

The average job run time creeping down indicates a mean increase in computing power. After the initial hick-ups, the average settled on 7 hours / task and now we're hitting the 6 hour mark, which happens to be a target that WCG has also set for FAAH, DDDT and RICE. I can't remember an announcement on re-cut of HPF2, but their average fell too... which could also be indicating a different experiment. See http://tinyurl.com/WCGART

cheers
