Scribe isn't "bashing". It's a valid question. Did you ante up for beta testing? It's a bit rude to be critical of a project and not offer to help.

Hi Dark Angel, its not valid in any way, its just inflammatory, which you should try not to get involved in, i have reported this thread as such

Good grief people. Get a grip. This is Scribes personality, and I don't see a problem with it. Look through his previous posts if you wish.
The comment that appears to have lit the fire was the "*******" comment. If you think another member is being rude you can say so in much better ways than that.

I also have reported posts in this thread as offensive and inflammatory, and Scribe was not the author of either.

I find it very tiring when people are perfectly happy to come into a project sub-forum howling and complaining about how things should have stayed in beta, but are not willing to post their logs let alone ante up for beta work themselves. If the techs are going to sort problems out they need information, not whining.

Re: Project Update from the CEP Team

Dear WCG Crunchers,

We want to give everyone a quick update about the scientific status of the project. First, we want to apologize for the bad work units. While it is no excuse, the errors occur in only some of each randomized set and we somehow avoided them in our in-house testing. There are two main causes of the errors that we have seen:

1) If you have been following the progress of your work units on the graphs, you can see that the energy of the system fluctuates with each step. Sometimes, the position of atoms late in the run causes the energy of the system to change by more than is "reasonable" for the simulation and the work unit errors out.

2) The work units that error out faster are due to the random placement of the molecules causing a lot of atoms to be close to "edge" of the simulation, which causes an error when the energy of the system is evaluated.

And now for the good news: both of these errors are more prevalent in certain types of simulations we are running, so we have removed these from the queue. We have also been learning from the results we have already gotten back. The next batch of work units we send will take everything we have learned so far into account.

The CEP team is very thankful to everyone who has been crunching away. This is the biggest set of simulations we have ever had the chance to run and we are really excited about the future of the project! biggrin

The CEP Team

Thank you for this update. I wonder see that CEP is become more and more tunned each day.

Additionally, I would like to read something about what are your team learning from CEP results.

In this way I would like to read something about the research evolution based on CEP results (I don't know if it is possible at this time). Thank you in advanced.

Re: Project Update from the CEP Team

And I've got mine, and since we are volunteers I don't like being bashed around and shut up by anyone.

Yes, I whine here and there, but like 'shut up' is reoccurring through some well known people, I try to be mostly helpfull and volunteer to help.

peace
