Re: How to participate in *only* Beta?

Yes, I understand there are more than enough beta testers. So from the project's perspective, it's not a big deal that a portion of potential beta testers are excluded.

My point is that those who have the most dedication to a particular project*, are by definition excluded from running the beta for that project. And that seems wrong to me.

* In this case, I am talking about those running 100% CEP. But it would apply to any project, beta testing for a new platform.

Re: How to participate in *only* Beta?

WCG uses its normal user base (or rather the subset of it that opted to participate) for beta tests. Only known computers are used for this which are considered "reliable" based on recent faultless workunit crunching in the normal WCG projects. T

It is true that you there is no way for you to only participate in WCG on beta tests (you have to have at least one mainline project selected).

However, the specific information above is not correct. Any computer with the 'beta' box checked is eligible to receive beta work as long as they ask for it when there is beta work available and the particular platform of your computer (mac-intel, linux, windows) is being tested.

Re: How to participate in *only* Beta?

Thanks for clarifying that, Kevin. The "reliability" view for beta eligibility had been going around for some time.

hypnotized
News to me, too. I has thought beta testing only used fast-return systems.
