Strange for it to let one type of job through and not the others. Anyway, yes had WebSense warnings a few years ago on a company PC. Email to IT with the Url's and IP's with justification, see post knreed for the new, and things started swinging again.

brintastee,
Got your email to support. When we started having issues with SSL late last week and over the weekend we switched the file uploads and downloads to running over http instead of https. Scheduler requests still occur over https. Note that this isn't a security concern since the list of files to download is sent over the scheduler request and include a md5sum that is verified before the file is used (and the reverse on the server side). However, based on your statement in the email this might be related to the issue you are experiencing. You could quickly check this by going to one of the impacted machines and replacing all instances of http://grid.worldcommunitygrid.org with https://grid.worldcommunitygrid.org in the client_state.xml file. If the uploads proceed correctly then you know that is the issue. thanks, Kevin |

I have a lot of PCs to change. This really sucks. I suspect there are a lot of companies that have firewalls with content filtering turned on that will have the same problem we are having. If the url going out via http has suspicions strings inside like "pwd", "scr", "gcc", or "zsh" our firewall is going to drop it. Those rules will never be removed so that is not a choice. Any comments welcome. (be nice) I could not even post this reply until I changed the url from http to https. ![]() |

So I came in to work this morning and again nothing was uploading. It seems that every time the client updates with WCG the client_state.xml gets changed back. I can't be changing these all the time so I will be discontinuing boinc on them. I can't understand why you can't go back to using https.

brinktastee, we think we have a solution. Put this in your cc_config.xml file:
<cc_config> <log_flags> </log_flags> <options> <version_check_server>www.worldcommunitygrid.org</version_check_server> <proxy_test_server>www.ibm.com</proxy_test_server> <start_delay>120</start_delay> <http_1_0>1</http_1_0> </options> </cc_config> |

brinktastee,
----------------------------------------We made that original change becuase we were concerned that the SSL module was being overloaded (and causing the SSL issues of last week). We can certainly change it back since we have determined that the SSL module itself was bad. However, we do reserve the right in the future to switch. OpenSSL has issues with some proxies and https. Hopefully they will eventually fix those issues and that patch will get rolled into BOINC so that everyone will be happy. However, at this time we will go ahead and switch it back. Please note though that this change will only impact new workunits - not ones you already have. Also - it will take a few days for those new workunits to be distributed. In the meantime - please try what Did suggests above. I would be curious to know the outcome. thanks, Kevin [Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at Feb 2, 2009 3:36:04 PM] |

I'm using version 5.10.45 installed as a service. I do not have this file, cc_config.xml anywhere on the drive so I made one and put it in the boinc directory.
I then had boinc "read config file" and I get these errors. 2/2/2009 12:11:39 PM||Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <version_check_server> 2/2/2009 12:11:39 PM||Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <proxy_test_server> 2/2/2009 12:11:39 PM||Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <start_delay> |
