I have received the news today that my step-dad (who has been in my life since I was 4, and who I consider my Dad) has stopped the dialysis treatments on Thurs 1.8.09 and the Dr. has said he may have 10 days to live.

He was diagnosed with cancer of the bladder and prostate about 6 months ago and his kidneys had shut down. They put him on dialysis and radiation treatments which meant trips to the hospital 6 times a week.

Last month they had found that the cancer had spread to his bones as well, and they stopped the radiation because it was to far gone.

Hospice is there now with him and I am thankful for all they do to keep him pain free since he was in so much pain before.

I would like to ask for prayers and good thoughts for my Dad as he journeys from this life into the next, and also for us, his family to continue to support our father and one another through this time...and also through the pain and sorrow afterward. I know right now it hasn't fully hit us and we haven't lost a parent before.
