I'm receiving the following message when attempting to retrieve WUs:

10/01/2009 10:07:03|World Community Grid|Message from server: Server can't open database
10/01/2009 10:07:13|World Community Grid|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.  Requesting 0 seconds of work, reporting 0 completed tasks
10/01/2009 10:07:18|World Community Grid|Scheduler request succeeded: got 0 new tasks
10/01/2009 10:07:18|World Community Grid|Message from server: Server can't open database
Probably because of the ongoing move, I assume...

Noticed that the old IP address 129.33.89.133 is still up when pinged. I'd not be surprised many are not being redirected. At least I've added 198.20.8.241 to point to the WCG website and 198.20.8.246 to secure.worldcommunitygrid.org. Removed references to the old addresses. Just 1 device and modem/router, and not seeing anything of that ilk.

Aaargh! I restarted the client as advised, but it didn't help... Can I alter the IP address manually somewhere? This is annoying...

Strange thing is: at home I have no such problem...

It seems like the old server DNS info was cached. Try to "retry communications" in BOINC, or, if this will not help, restart the machine.

"Retry communication", restarting the client and restarting the machine did not work. It results in the same error.

Is there a way to check/enter the new ip address somewhere?

I tried to re-attach to the project:

Flush the local dns

Nope...

I'm out of ideas

[update] It seems I'll have to wait for a proxy reset...

This is a proxy problem. If your proxy is caching the old DNS information, then I don't know how to solve that.

This is a proxy problem. If your proxy is caching the old DNS information, then I don't know how to solve that.


Put the new IP-addresses in your local hosts table:

129.33.89.133 www.worldcommunitygrid.org
129.33.89.134 secure.worldcommunitygrid.org
