I have subscribed to the clean energy project only but am getting downloads from fightaids. How can I restrict my world community grid to just the one project?

hi,
----------------------------------------You can setup the projects you want on this page http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/viewMyProjects.do also can check "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project." so your computers will not be idle if there is temporarily no work for those projects you have checked also, CEP work units are currently available only for Windows platform ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by rilian at Dec 24, 2008 11:52:54 AM] |

Hello alan_m,
If you uncheck the box that sends other work when there are no CEP work units, then you will only run when CEP work units are available. We are sending out CEP units very slowly because we are discovering a number of bugs in the CHARMM software program, even though it is not a new program. It often happens that the massive runs of data that WCG uses uncover unsuspected bugs in well-established programs. Lawrence |

The website is Java, the projects are C, C++ and FORTRAN. BOINC is C++.
BOINC was designed for MySQL, but WCG use DB2 and I think they also use WebSphere for various back-end synchronisation tasks. CHARMM is written in FORTRAN. There. More information than you ever wanted. Happy Christmas! |

Either you are on a Mac (and CEP isn't yet available for Mac, still in alpha testing) or your system has not enough memory or some other reason is disqualifying your system for the CEP WUs...... That's the only reason why the check box for taking WUs from other projects would even matter unless CEP is out of WUs completely (which from my end it doesn't look to be)..

...unless CEP is out of WUs completely (which from my end it doesn't look to be).. I have found CEP to be out of work a few times over the past several days. Might I suggest to the project administrators that more work be cued up for CEP, which despite its problems I seem to be crunching fairly successfully. People who do not want CEP would not ask for the work, and those who do want it I would imagine would not mind a larger cue. Thanks! ![]() |

I think we will get more batches of WUs for CEP after moving to another datacenter in mid january
---------------------------------------- . As for now you may check on only CEP project and check off "send work units from another projects" (but in this case there is a probability your computers will stay idle for a while) |

Hi martianmoons,
Uplinger recently posted that CEP only had a few slots on the server. This reduces the percentage of work units sent out for CEP as opposed to other projects. This is intentional while we are trying to locate the bugs. We may end up resending work after we fix the bugs, so we do not want to start out too quickly. The question is, do the bugs sometimes return incorrect results that seem valid or not? Right now we do not know. Lawrence |
