.........Ideally volunteers should just run simple view, which has no such button... which is why WCG designed that interface. ...so in other words if WCG designed the 'simple' interface it had to be because WCG was incapable of doing what most of the other BOINC projects can do, that is, run correctly as BOINC intended with a 'full' interface! Why bother doing this designing a totally new and untried interface instead of fixing WCG to run the way all other BOINC projects do? Seems like a total waste of effort. Remember, BOINC is a one size fits all, open source. It has a few dissonant bells "in case of". ![]() |

believe it or not the complixe interface is hard for some people to understand (like my mother-in-law) and they prefer to run a simple interface... now if i could only convince her to add to my stats instead of her own
---------------------------------------- myself i like to see the internals a bit... its kinda like some people dont open the hood of there car cause they dont want to know whats inside.. myself i look in the new cars and just scratch my head tring to make sence of all the new fangled gizmoez ![]() |

....instead of fixing WCG to run the way all other BOINC projects do? Seems like a total waste of effort. ![]() We all know Scribe, that the techs are working hard to keep everything running, including preparation of the new hardware in the first part of next year, placed somewhere in Canada. Let's say the (minor) problems is the price of success for almost 200,000 actice users on WCG. Hopefully the new hardware will extremely improve DB-, network- and Web-performance. Because of your smiley I think you was just kidding a bit. |

Because of your smiley I think you was just kidding a bit. True! You were the only one to spot it! ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 12, 2008 3:14:57 PM] |
