Everyone is saying that there's a bunch of work now, but I don't seem to be getting any of it... All the WCG activity I see is for Rice... Hope I'm not listed as an unreliable host! I specify the only work I want is for CEP but, when there is no other work to receive I will accept any other. I do get rice, CMD2, help conquer cancer, and others, but most of what I get is for CEP. |

A few days ago I saw in the chart a progress of 72,xx% At this moment the progress shows 73,52% In a few days we can check the progress again and extrapolate to 100% and see what the end date would be, assuming a stable load. This was written on aug 05 We are now on aug 09, but the chart update shows still aug 08 and the progress is 74,73%, then there is 1,21% done in 4 days. Extrapolating with these figures would make 83 days to go. Count the last 10 days for running down the cache and some days for speeding up, then the available WU's could run out in 60-70 days from now, so about mid october this year :-) We will wait to see some more updates about the progress from the techs :-)

@nly 32630,
thanks for starting this extrapolation initiative. Let's keep an eye on that. In order to track the progress, I suggest to start a table that can enhanced every few days. Here is the start that considers yesterday's update of the table. The figures are therefore a little bit different from nly32630's, but they will probably be more stable as we continue to track the progess. 73,52% aug 05 74,73% aug 08 75,05% aug 09. This makes 1,53% in 4 days or 0,38% per day. This would give us about 65 days left. Counting a few days for speeding up in the last weeks, this confirmes the calculation that CEP(1) will run dry in the first half of October. |

Whatever the fine algorithms in exacting the end date, the 1,500,000th validated result was recorded on August 12, 2009.
----------------------------------------The output seems to have been limited to around 10,500 daily with a project current mean of around 8 hours per task i.e. about 9.5 to 10 CPU years daily. Each one good for 5mb upload or 52Gb daily. Think my ISP would not be happy with that :D

Updated extrapolation:
73,52% aug 05 74,73% aug 08 75,05% aug 09 75,94% aug 12. This makes 2,42% in 7 days or 0,3457% per day. This pace would give us another 69 days for CEP ![]() |

Whoa...only 69 days, hmm i did a very rough estimate with my 5 cores running at 70% due to heat issues, with the days i have done already (137) should be around 378 days...so 1 year is possible...so many projects not enuf cores...
----------------------------------------Ok new numbers, i should finish in 58.5 days depending on how much i use the laptop for gaming. Just over 3.5 hours a day of games i can play would be 69... ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Jack007 at Aug 13, 2009 8:27:38 AM] |

Working on Saphire and have +/- 150 days in cache and at 1 year 50 days so should make it! I do not want to abandon project after that but also want to not prevent others who are stretching to reach a badge miss it so once close to 2 years will start significantly reducing my cache.

Updated extrapolation: 73,52% aug 05 74,73% aug 08 75,05% aug 09 75,94% aug 12. This makes 2,42% in 7 days or 0,3457% per day. This pace would give us another 69 days for CEP ![]() CEP is slowly speeding up, also visible in Sek's chart. 69 days would make the well run dry in about 60 days I think... and counting on speeding up let's say about 50 days... Less than 2 months to grab the WU's I found out I just made it to Emerald, I'm still going for the Sapphire badge

You see things I don't: The hard underlying data:
----------------------------------------Aug.03-09 10685 Aug.04-09 10637 Aug.05-09 10110 Aug.06-09 10181 Aug.07-09 10724 Aug.08-09 10636 Aug.09-09 10620 Aug.10-09 10846 Aug.11-09 10644 Aug.12-09 10460 Aug.13-09 10211 looks like a controlled mean of 10,500 units a day with batches of which uplinger clearly said he only knows by count [scientist info], not by size or degree of toughness. The aim was to finish by end of the year. But who knows if snags develop; you have to consider that and the project going into another interlude. Don't let me stop you though ;>) Edit: The numbers are the result counts validated of course. Other curves have a lag factor being a mean, responding to events as far back as 60 days.
