confused When for Mac/Linux?

Hi. Any idea when it will be available on Mac and/or Linux? On the System Requirements page at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/help/viewTopic.do?shortName=minimumreq it only shows Windows requirements.

cool Re: When for Mac/Linux?

The Linux and Mac clients should be available very soon. Most probably, the week of December 8th!

Cheers,
The CEP team.

Re: When for Mac/Linux?

sedgecom,

The client you already got (BOINC) ... it's the science/research application which is already being Beta tested for Linux. Follow the Beta test and Member News forums for current info on this and announcements. You can even subscribe to RSS feeds for any specific WCG forum.

cheers

Re: When for Mac/Linux?

I'm on an intel mac. I set up my worldcommunitygrid profile to only participate in The Clean Energy Project, but when I run the client is starts to analyse FightAids@home, and The Clean Energy Project does not seem to be an option I can select in the client. Is this a mac thing? When will the project be available for mac users?

You shouldn't promote it as being multiplatform when it is not.

Re: When for Mac/Linux?

The option for MAC/Linux was not activated pending completion of the beta.

Sub-projects can nowhere be selected in a client. WCG same as SETI or Primegrid or CPDN have also different sub-projects chosen on the website.

When a project of choice is not available at WCG, the option of "alternate work" kicks in. You can de-select this option in the My Grid > My projects profile. That truly limits all devices to just CEP and idles a device if out of work for that sub-project.

What should and should not be advertised... strictly speaking a Mac box using Bootcamp or whatever emulator could run it ;>). The admin posted in member news to apologize for the delay.

Re: When for Mac/Linux?

Another shout out for the Intel Mac! :-)

I have a dual core duo (quad processor) Intel Mac Pro ready to roll all night long!

Also, I have a RadeonX1900 graphics card. Will there be an option to use a Mac graphics card? Will that be superior to the CPU?

Can't wait to help. I'll check back in a week.

Re: When for Mac/Linux?

I was also a little disappointed when I installed BOIC just for the CEP and found I could not contribute with my Macs. :(

I just wanted to throw in my vote for Mac support.

No need to vote. Just wait. Hopefully not long, either.
