Filtering for message boards(topic threads)

Hello,

I noticed more and more websites are starting to use filtering as to what type of subjects and content will be posted to the boards. I hate nothing more then when I try to post a new subject and I'm denied, but perhaps it will reduce redundancy and the redundant work load for responses? Or a referral could be made for already existing threads? I'm sick of seeing new GPU talk that really isn't that new.

It's just a common problem I've seen on here and I don't totally blame users for thinking it's new and revolutionary each time. I'm guilty of posting new topics for already existing ones also.

Also, perhaps a Frequently Asked Questions(FAQ) might help for common subject matter?

Re: Filtering for message boards(topic threads)

If you write the FAQ up, we'll take care it gets published. The Rules have been published as to content, so you can draw on that. Automatic filtering, not likely as from what I can see.

As for starting new threads on existing topics, yes you are more guilty than others wink
