Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) is a genetic condition involving the abnormal growth of blood vessels in some parts of the body which are particularly rich in blood vessels. It is caused by a flaw in one gene, the VHL gene, on the short arm of chromosome 3, which regulates cell growth.
Is anyone aware of a distributed computing effort (either on this grid or elsewhere) to assist research on this disease? |

----------------------------------------unfortunatelly I did not saw anything about it in grid computing projects until now... but you and many interested people could former a special group with medical team and researches specilized in VHL, to project and plan a kind of study using grid computing (please go to WCG rules to submit projects to get an idea about how submit and what kind of research are focus of WCG). Anyway, in a quick search in internet, I found many refrences about VHL including some special groups involved onn that with complete assitance to patients and they families. You probably know this efforts, and in this case please do not consider my message. Thanks. I have three family members with VHL, so I'm rather interested in ways to help research. Donating to the VHL Family Alliance certainly helps with their funding of research, but I thought that grid computing would provide additional benefits. I've already contacted the VHL Alliance and sent them the url for the WCG project submission page. I'd sure like to see something get going. Thanks again!
